Editorial Services

Editorial Services

I am now offering a selection of editorial services. Helping others to make their stories shine is a huge passion of mine, and I’d love to share what I’ve learned on my writing journey so far with others! I have a MA in Creative Writing, have mentored for the Rogue Mentor programme, and have spent many years beta reading for fellow writers. My strengths are developing characters, worldbuilding, and figuring out the plot ‘beats’ of your novel.

If you’d like to get in touch about one of the following packages, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Please note my specialty is in young adult/new adult fantasy. If you are writing in another genre, please specify in your email so I can consider if I would be the best fit for your manuscript.

Testimonials

“I was lucky enough to work with Rachael on developmental and line edits for my YA fantasy novel alongside my query packet, and I can’t speak highly enough about the experience! She is fantastic at offering constructive feedback to improve the story and her kind, professional and insightful advice taught me so much about developing my own writing and querying craft. There’s nothing better than working with someone who really *gets* your story and wants to see it shine and I felt like that with Rachael throughout every step. Her knowledge on craft, querying and the whole publishing process is truly invaluable and well worth the investment to anyone looking for some professional guidance in a murky industry.”

“Rachael has been enormously helpful in developing my query. She pointed out the exact places it was weak and offered ideas for strengthening my word choices. She also found areas to combine. The most important thing we discussed was character agency - which my query lacked and I hadn't even considered. I realized not just my query needed work, but also my manuscript. I'm so happy to have received her advice and I highly recommend her editing services.”

“Rachael offers insightful feedback and has helped me so much with levelling up my writing. While she can point out weaker points in my characters or plot structure, she is also an amazing cheerleader and let’s you know what you’re doing well. I would definitely recommend her!”

“Rachael’s feedback helped me to restructure the order of the events in my first chapter to improve the pacing and readability. In addition to her suggestions to fix the vague use of language, she provided line edits for polished and concise opening pages. Thanks to her, I could bring clarification to my main character’s goals and motivations to entice the readers from the beginning. I’d absolutely recommend her to everyone!”
